Fort Worth, Texas – Radiant RFID today announced that the City of Fort Worth, Texas has selected Radiant RFID’s asset tracking system, Virtual Asset Tracker (VAT), to inventory and locate all items purchased by the city using federal grant money.
Virtual Asset Tracker is a complete solution of RFID software, hardware and tags that enables customers to quickly answer the question, “Where is that…?” for any asset. The City of Fort Worth is tracking everything from radios to computers to robots used by the bomb disposal unit – anything funded by federal grants.
The city purchased Radiant RFID’s Software-as-a Service option and went live quickly with a complete RFID solution. “Speed and accuracy were important to us,” said Eric Carter, Homeland Security Grants Manager, City of Fort Worth Office of Emergency Management.
“We knew Radiant RFID from their work with the State of Texas for Evacuation Management and were comfortable with their level of expertise with RFID and asset tracking. We learned a great deal just from the setup process about how to organize our asset system. Once we set up our data and selected RFID tags, we were able to instantly track and locate items. As we continue to add assets to our database, this will prove a tremendous help during inventories and audits.”

The City of Fort Worth is using the Motorola MC3090-Z RFID handheld running the latest release of Virtual Asset Tracker. A variety of RFID provide desired read ranges on plastic, metal and other surfaces. Radiant RFID’s Software-as-a-Service option includes on-site training.
